A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest

This is Ashley. We have been best friends since we were 9 years old. We've been through a lot and might not see each other all the time but we are pretty close and talk all the time.
Thanks for being a great friend! =)

Purple Cystic Fibrosis Shop!

So we decided to go through with it and try and create a Cystic Fibrosis Etsy shop! I am pretty excited about it. We went shopping on Friday to get supplies to start making things! I started on a purple scarf already and am trying to come up with some good ideas! Thanks to everyone that has given me input so far! We are also trying to come up with a good name for our shop so we can get it off the ground. =) This is going to be awesome!

This last week was kind of stressful and tiring. Adam had a doctor's appt. on Wednesday. He hasn't been feeling well so we decided to head to the doctor's just to make sure he is ok. His PFT's were pretty good being 2 months out of the hospital. They gave us some suggestions and sent us on our way. It was such a relief that he didn't have to go back into the hospital. Later that day, we went to an andrology lab to do some testing. We will find out the results next week and then figure out what to do next. I think I also caught what Adam had! So we've both been kind of under the weather. It's no fun!

This week I also went to Aerial dance on Tuesday and Zumba with my sister-in-law on Thursday! I loved it but it just made me tired. We also went to the Jordan River temple yesterday! (2 down, 11 to go!)

I hope everyone had a great weekend and hope you have a great week! =)

CF Etsy Store?

Hi! I need some input from all of you!

My mother-in-law and I have been talking about creating our own Etsy shop. She already has one in place. My mother-in-laws Etsy shop (here is the link to visit the shop she has in place) But our idea was to make a bunch of things like headbands, scarves, jewelry, etc in purple and donate a portion of the sale to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We kind of came up with this idea when we were talking about Great Strides and how we could raise money for that.

So my question is do you think this is a good idea? What kind of stuff would you buy? And do you think like family and friends would buy stuff too?

It is for a good cause! I want to help my husband and friends find a cure. I was hoping that doing something like this might help create some awareness, raise some money and have the opportunity to create some cute stuff! =)

Talk

So my blog has turned into a Sunday blog it seems.
Anyway...today, I gave my first church talk.
Our talks were on our experience with the temple.
It was really scary.
(My legs would not stop shaking)
I had this microphone staring at me and I am surprised that words even came out of my mouth.
But they came out and I could hear the nervousness in my voice.
Luckily, it was coherent words and I think I made my point.
Adam was giving a talk as well so thank goodness he was there with me.
I think I might have passed out if he had not been.
And he almost wasn't.
(He hasn't been feeling well).
I am so thankful that he was feeling well enough to be there with me.
I was probably being a little selfish but I don't think I couldn't have done it without him.
He is my rock and my miracle.
It was such a wonderful and scary day.
I hope everyone else had a great Sunday!

Sunday

Happy Sunday!

I woke up with a stomach ache and soon learned that Aunt Flow came to visit. (Yes, I know T.M.I. Sorry.) Anyway.. I told Adam I wasn't going to go to church because I could hardly stand. I was sad because it was only our second week of teaching Primary but I knew I wouldn't be able to handle the pain. I have spent the rest of the day in bed watching Grey's Anatomy, which has recently been addicting. Now Adam and I have been playing Wii and watching TV. It's been kind of a relaxing Sunday which is always nice minus the pain.

This week has been pretty crazy. Spring semester started on the 10th and it's been kind of hard getting into the swing of things again. Our schedules are totally different this semester. My classes are in the evening and Adam's are in the morning. I am really hoping this semester goes better than last semester. *Crossing my fingers* So far so good. Hope everyone is having a good Sunday! =)

New Calling Pt. 2

So it's a little later than 12 PM. Thanks for waiting!
As you read in my last post, Adam and I got a new calling in church this past week!
And we are....(drum roll, please)......
Primary Teachers!!!!
If you don't know what Primary is, I found a definition on lds.org that might help explain it better.
Primary is:
The organization of the Church for children from ages three to twelve. Beginning at three years of age, children receive two hours of religious instruction each Sunday. One hour is spent with a teacher who provides a lesson for an age-specific group, and a second hour is spent in a combined group of children in instruction and singing.

We will be teaching 5 year olds!
I am so super excited and nervous all at the same time.
It will be a good chance for me to learn but I am not sure I am going to be great at teaching.  We'll see I guess.
Today was our first lesson and it was a little rocky but now we have some better ideas on how to be more successful at it.
=D

Well too bad.
I can't tell you until Sunday!
So tune in on Sunday at 12 PM MT Time!
I'll tell you  then! =)

Valuable Lesson

“Fear less, hope more; Eat less, chew more; Whine less, breathe more; Talk less, say more; Love more, and all good things will be yours”

Today, I learned something that I need to think about more when I complain about things. "It could be worse." Also, the above quote kind of sums up a lot of today. Here is the story of today.

This morning when I came into work, I found out that I was be floated to another unit. One I have never been on or knew much about. I was a little nervous because the last time they floated me they gave me a full patient load and I had no idea what I was doing or what to expect. Good thing my friend, Leah was there. I would not have survived without her. Anyway...so once I got on the floor, I found out I was a one to one which is not as bad. The patient ended up not needing a one to one and then they moved me into another one to one. And what do you know these patients needed showers! Oh my gosh! I haven't showered someone in probably three years!!!

Now I know this sounds silly. Showering is something we do every day right? Well when you bath babies and never had to shower anyone in three years, you tend to forget some things. So I told the nurse that I was worried about transferring the patients and getting them in the shower. I was just scared. I didn't know if I had the ability to do it. So this turned into me apparently saying that I wasn't going to do it. After I got a talkin to by the charge nurse and I cleared up what I meant. (I didn't say I wouldn't do it. I was just scared.)

The nurse came back in and told me that she would help me. But after waiting a while, I just decided to do it myself and see what happened. Luckily, the patients both had family in the room that were willing to help me transfer them. Suddenly, all those old skills came flooding back and I wasn't too worried about it. They both got showered and besides being cold they both survived.

Moral of the story...Don't complain about something that you have that is good. I now realize that I probably have one of the best jobs in the hospital. But I did enjoy all the new experience I had today and loved all the new people I met. Life sure can throw you some curve balls and you just have to take them in stride.

I am so glad that I survived this day and no one got hurt. Ha. And I am glad that I don't have to be floated for a while. I hope anyway. =) Thanks for listening.

Church Talk

Sometime in November, our bishop asked me if Adam and I would give a talk. He had a pretty good hold on me as he was shaking my hand so I couldn't say no. He told me that we would be talking in January and we would talk about our experience with going to the temple. I can go on and on about it and I have to consolidate it into 7 to 8 minutes! Oh man.
All I have to say is I am scared out of my mind!
I guess I will be breaking one of my fears to start off the new year. Gah!
I am not a big fan of getting up in front of everyone and speaking. I am very glad that we are talking about experiences and not about scripture or anything. Don't get my wrong, I love the scriptures but I don't think I could produce a good talk about it yet. There is still a lot I don't understand about it. So hopefully this won't be too bad.
Ahh! I hope it goes well. Wish me good luck!

Here is a cute video of my niece playing with her uncle Curtis. Sorry Curtis. Don't be mad at me for posting this. It is just too cute!
