Day 19/ Great Strides

A picture and a letter

I have no idea what this means. Haha.

So I probably won't do this one. Sorry to disappoint all of my fans. ;)

But there is something I want to talk about again since it is getting closer.

And what I am talking about is Great Strides.

Great Strides is a national fundraising walk for Cystic Fibrosis. For those of you that don't know what cystic fibrosis is, it is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:

  • clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
  • obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food
This is the definition I found on cff.org.

I am trying to put together a team to raise awareness and money to help find a cure. My husband is effected by this disease and I so badly want to find him a cure so he doesn't have to go through what he has to go through everyday. So I hope that my friends and family will join our team and help us hopefully find a cure for him, my friends and thousands of others that have this disease.

If you want to help, there are many options. You can sign up and walk with us in Salt Lake. (The walks are a lot of fun and you will get a t-shirt that we are making to go with our team name.) To sign up, you go to cff.org and on the right hand side there is a button that says Great Strides. You click on that and you can type in my name (Christine Soderborg). It will find me and where I am walking. Click on my name and it will bring up my Great Strides homepage and at the top it says "Join My Team". So that will sign you up with my team.

Another option is to donate. If you can't walk with us on May 21st then you can donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. And you can donate as much or as little as you want.
Also, my mother-in-law and I are in the process of getting our Etsy shop up and running so you can buy cute accessories and part of the purchase will go to the foundation.

Also, I would really appreciate anyone who decides to walk with us to spread the word to your friends and family.

Thank you for your time and let's make CF stand for cure found! =)

If you need any help at all with organizing your team for the CF walk just let me know! I think Spence and I are going to do a small fundraiser -crosses fingers it works out- We're going to do "coins for CF" or something and in my hometown and try to find somewhere in Bountiful to put jars for people to their left over change into... coins add up! There's more to it, but that's the basis of it!! I'm excited!!! =)
