Vacation Part 1: South Dakota

This year, we decided to go to South Dakota for vacation to see my grandparents. I wanted my grandma and grandpa to see me while I was pregnant because this is their first great grandchild. The trip out to South Dakota was not easy for me. Adam had to drive most of the way, which is a 15 hour drive. I was so uncomfortable most of the time and when I was driving my back started to hurt so bad. I am so thankful that Adam was willing to drive.

We made a few stops in South Dakota. One, to see my cousin's ex wife, which we unfortunately didn't get a picture with and we also stopped at Wall Drug. We probably spent too much time in Wall Drug because we didn't get to Mitchell until 12 AM. It was my fault because I wanted to look in every store to find a onesie for Atticus but we didn't have a whole lot of luck.

During our stay in Mitchell, we played Scrabble and Dominos, had hot chocolate and yummy chocolate zucchini cake with people that live in my grandparents apartment complex, went to the Corn Palace, explored the town, saw my grandparents old house, heard stories of when my grandparents were younger and just enjoyed being lazy!

It was such a great trip and now we are enjoying visiting Nikki in Kansas. I will post pictures from this part of our vacation later.

Leaving Utah at 5 AM!

Beautiful sunrise! The pictures don't do it justice!

Adam wanted a picture of a lone tree. He thought it was cool.

A view of the Corn Palace from across the street! This year it had pictures of each holiday!

Walking down Main St.

Family feud for my grandparents buffet! I don't really want it. It was just a joke for my mom and aunt who have been doing this since I can remember!

20 weeks! Half way there!! =)

How far along? 20 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: Ten or so pounds

Maternity clothes? Bought a few more pants and bands for my regular pants I can still fit into.

Stretch marks? No.

Sleep: A little more restless than I had been.

Best moment this week: Seeing our little guy! We had our big ultrasound on Monday.

Have you told family and friends: Yes! Pretty much everyone in the world knows. Haha.

Miss Anything? Sushi

Movement: Every once in a while. People tell me what I am describing is most likely him.

Food cravings: Popsicles!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Any time I swallow something wrong it usually makes me throw up. My gag reflex is not so good right now.

Have you started to show yet: I think so.

Gender prediction: Boy. (And I was right!)

Labor Signs: No!

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Both.

Looking forward to: Feeling movement.

I love that we are having a boy! I am so excited to meet this little dude! Some times it is still unreal to me that there is a baby in my belly. I remind myself or Adam on a daily basis. "Oh hey, I am pregnant by the way." That is usually what I say! It has been busy the last couple months but here are some pictures!

What I did and didn't know about pregnancy

I have spent a good part of my working career working with pregnant ladies or ladies that had their babies. I have seen a lot and learned a lot but boy, is it different when you are actually living it. I didn't realize that some of the symptoms would be so intense and I know that it is different for every woman. I guess this is the joy of being a first time mom.

Anyway...this is what I did know:

-You are going to have morning sickness, nausea, all day sickness, etc.
-Your belly is most likely going to be bigger.
-Your boobs get bigger.
-There are certain foods you should try to stay away from.
-There are certain things you can't do.
-You might have weird cravings.
-Your hormones are out of whack.
-You'll be tired.
-It will be an interesting experience.
-It is a blessing and a miracle!

 What I didn't know:

-I didn't know how intense pregnancy tired would be. No matter how much I slept, which was ALL the time, I never felt less tired.
-One word, constipation.
-The hormones would be way overwhelming. I am normally emotional but I am like PREGOZILLA. Just ask my hubby.
-I would have to eat based on what smelt or sounds good.
-How uncomfortable it would feel growing a baby. All the stretching and cramping. Good times.
-You can only lay on your sides. Obviously you can't sleep on your back and front when you are farther along but even now if I wake up on my stomach I feel uncomfortable.
-etc, etc, etc. I am sure there is more that I just can't remember at this moment in time. You know that pregnancy brain thing..

Anyway... I love being pregnant and it is such a blessing but there are a lot of things that are not fun and suck. I can't wait until we find out what baby AC is! Only 4 more weeks.
